This position is accountable for the day-to-day public works related operations of the Town, including the maintenance of the Town Office, shop/garage, parks and public areas, road conditions, drainage, and tools/equipment. This includes frequent routine inspection of the areas listed, determining repairs/corrections to be accomplished in an expeditious, cost effective manner.
Most work is self-directing and can be accomplished with assistance from available staff, however, where contractor, regional government (City of Sun Prairie, Dane County, etc.), or primary utility assistance is required, contact is to be made and cost/timing determined for approval; except in the case of emergencies where a threat to public safety exists.
The desired qualifications include having a valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or the ability to obtain one, a high school diploma or GED, and 2-5 years of relevant and applicable experience. Required is the passing of a pre-employment drug screening, and future random drug testing in compliance with Town, Federal Dept. of Transportation, and Highway Administration drug and alcohol testing regulations. The successful individual must be willing to work nights, holidays, and/or weekends as required to provide public safety and service to the community.

Public Works Director/Highway Commissioner
Applications are now being accepted for a permanent full-time Public Works Director/Highway Commissioner position with Dunn County, Wisconsin.
This position entails advanced administrative and managerial work in planning and directing the activities of the Dunn County Public Works Department, which includes the Divisions of Highway, Facilities & Parks, and Transit. Work is performed under the supervision of the County Manager and under policy direction from the Dunn County Board of Supervisors Highway Committee, Facilities Committee, and Transit Commission, and in accordance with all applicable State Statues and County ordinances.
Dunn County has approximately 425 centerline miles of County Truck Highway, 520 lane miles of Federal and State Highways, including approximately 50 lane miles of interstate (I-94) in both the east and westbound directions. The FY2017 budget is approximately $17.2 million. The Department has +90 full, part-time, contracted employees, including a Parks & Facilities Manager and Transit Manager who report to the Public Works Director. The Highway Division includes an Engineer/Superintendent, Patrol Superintendent, and Shop Superintendent.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Construction Engineering, Public Administration or related field.
· Six (6) years or more direct experience in management/supervisor and municipal public works operations.
· Equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
· Registered as professional engineer in the State of Wisconsin preferred.
· Provides overall coordination and management of repair/maintenance on the highways under Wisconsin DOT jurisdiction including the State and Federal highway system.
· Plans, coordinates, directs, and supervises the various programs and activities of the department, including the Divisions of Transit and Facilities & Parks.
· Prepares and administers departmental operating budget.

Library Director Position Open Madeline Island Public Library
The Madeline Island Public Library is in search of a Library Director. This is a full-time position, approximately 35 hours per week, some weekends/evenings required. In this role you will manage all operations of the library, implement library policies and projects, and provide leadership for improving public library service to the community.
The Town of La Pointe is located on Madeline Island, the only inhabited island of the Apostle Islands. These islands are located at the western end of Lake Superior, and Madeline Island is a 20-minute ferry boat ride from Bayfield, Wisconsin. The Town has a year-round population of 265 but swells to 3,000 during the summer months.
The right person will have a commitment to the mission and philosophy of public library service, excellent leadership skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with library board members, elected officials, employees and community groups, and will have the ability to recruit and work with library volunteers.
Preferred: Two to five years of public library experience performing administrative, supervisory and day-to-day necessary to maintain library operations and standards and having a good working knowledge of computers/technology pertinent to libraries is desired as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. A BA degree and Wisconsin Public Librarian Certification is a plus.
Required: We are willing to work with an individual to obtain a Library Certification if you have at least 54 credit hours in liberal arts studies from an accredited institution and have demonstrated leadership, business and technical capabilities.
